My name is Chan Zai. I was born in a walled village of the Tang clan in Lung Yeuk Tau, New Territories, which has a history of over 500 years. I have been filled with curiosity and pride for this familiar land since I was young.

I was born in the auspicious old walled village, gazing at the lush green mountains in the distance and the meandering Wutong River, which made me feel the unique charm of this land from an early age. Our ancestors carefully chose this site and built sturdy high walls of blue bricks, which not only defended against pirate attacks but also provided a cool and pleasant shelter from the heat. Although the village gate is narrow, it serves its defensive purpose well, making it difficult for outsiders to invade easily. The ancient well beside the gate is a vital water source for the villagers, ensuring water security when enemies approach.

As I walk into the village, the neatly arranged houses are hidden beneath the greenery, exuding an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The ancestral hall towers into the clouds, with dragon-head wood carvings and crane reliefs inside, showcasing the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Tang clan. During major festivals, the villagers actively participate, ringing the ancient bronze bell in unison, praying for the blessings of our ancestors.

I especially love to visit the Tin Hau Temple, where after lighting an incense stick, I listen to the miraculous stories of the Goddess of Heaven and the Earth God, hoping they will bless me with safety and health. The nearby Chong Him Hall is also a favorite of mine, filled with countless memories from my childhood.

Every time I step into this familiar historic site, I can't help but feel: I am so fortunate to be born in such a place rich in history and culture. I will study hard to inherit the wisdom of my ancestors, ensuring that this treasured land is passed down through generations and thrives.

in the safari, there lived a baby deer named Daisy. Daisy loved to hop and skip through the tall, golden grasses. Daisy spotted a tall, gentle giraffe named George.  He was stretching up to nibble on the greenest leaves from the tallest branches.

Daisy watched in awe. George looked down at Daisy with a warm smile. “Hello, little deer! Yes, I can reach the high leaves, but I can’t run as fast as you, Daisy. 
Daisy’s ears perked up. “But what’s the use of being fast if I can’t taste those delicious leaves?” 

George thought for a moment and then lowered his head to Daisy’s level. Why don’t we help each other?

Daisy’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Oh, I’d love that!” she exclaimed. “Let’s be a team!”

 Daisy would meet George by the acacia tree. George would bend his long neck and pluck the juiciest, freshest leaves from the treetops. He would share them with Daisy, who would happily munch away, enjoying a treat she could never reach on her own.

In return, Daisy showed George how to move more gracefully on the ground. “Step lightly,” she taught him. “Feel the ground under your hooves. Try to move like the wind – softly and swiftly.”

George practiced every day. At first, he was a bit clumsy, but Daisy encouraged him. “You’re getting better!” she cheered. “Just keep trying!” 


“We’re helping each other,” Daisy replied proudly. “George is teaching me to reach new heights, and I’m helping him move gracefully.”


From that day on, Daisy and George’s friendship grew even stronger, and soon other animals joined them. They realized that everyone had something special to offer.

The garden was overgrown, they knew it needed some work on it. the friends asked the other farm animals to help them with the mission. Everyone worked together, using their skills to make the garden look prettier.
As they finished, the farmer appeared and the friends felt a bit relieved. THe farmer was happy and reminded them to stick together. All the animals and farmer returned home and had a nap by the fire place

1.  John Jr and Yuēhàn was excited for their family trip to Gettysburg battlefield.  Before packing their suitcases, John Jr and Yuēhàn looked at some history books to have a better understanding of how Gettysburg battlefield was so important.
2.  John Jr gave Yuēhàn some history about the Civil War.  The American Civil War was a war between the Union (Northern US States) and the Confederacy (Southern US States) that lasted from 1861-1865. The war was fought over disagreements about slavery, states vs. federal rights, the election of Abraham Lincoln, and the economy. 
3.  John Jr found some information on the battle of Gettysburg.  The Battle of Gettysburg was a three-day battle fought between Union and Confederate forces between July 1 and July 3, 1863, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle, which was won by the Union, is widely considered the Civil War's turning point, ending the Confederacy's aspirations to establish an independent nation. It was the Civil War's bloodiest battle, claiming over 50,000 combined casualties over three days.
4.  Yuēhàn found some information of the final battle and shared it with John Jr.  The Battle of Palmito Ranch took place on May 12–13, 1865, near the Rio Grande in Cameron County, Texas. The battle was fought between Confederate forces under Col. John S. “Rip” Ford and Union forces under Col. Theodore H. Barrett. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory. 
5.  John. Jr and Yuēhàn finished packing and loaded up the car.  They had a wonderful time in Gettysburg and even saw a Civil War reenactment.
