The expenses are qualified medical expenses: The expenses must meet the definition of qualified medical expenses as outlined in IRS Publication 502. These include medical and dental expenses that would generally qualify for the medical expense deduction.

The expenses were not previously reimbursed: The taxpayer must not have been reimbursed for these expenses from any other source, such as insurance or another health plan.

Proper recordkeeping: The taxpayer must maintain records to substantiate that the distribution was used exclusively to pay or reimburse qualified medical expenses. These records should include receipts, invoices, or other documentation showing the date, amount, and nature of the expense.

The expenses were not deducted as itemized deductions: If the taxpayer claimed these expenses as itemized deductions in a prior year, they cannot use HSA funds to reimburse them.

As long as these conditions are met, the distribution in 2025 for 2023 expenses will be tax-free and not subject to the additional 20% tax on non-qualified distributions. The taxpayer should report the distribution on Form 8889 when filing their 2025 tax return.

Winter came to the village, covering everything in white snow. Mimi the Cat and Didi the Duck were thrilled.  
"Let’s celebrate winter with Lulu!" said Mimi.  
"Yes!" Didi agreed. "We can play in the snow and drink warm soup together."  

They walked to Lulu the Frog’s house near the pond and knocked. "Lulu? Are you home?" Didi called. But no one answered.  

Mimi peeked inside. "Lulu isn’t here," she said, confused. They searched behind the house, under a tree, and around the frozen pond. No sign of Lulu.  
"Where could she be?" asked Didi, shivering. "Do you think she’s gone forever?"  
"I hope not," Mimi said sadly. "Lulu is our best friend."  

As they sat under a big tree feeling down, Mimi suddenly remembered. "Wait! Frogs hibernate in winter!"  
"What does that mean?" asked Didi.  
"It means Lulu isn’t gone," Mimi explained. "She’s sleeping through the winter to stay safe from the cold."  
"She’s just sleeping?" Didi’s eyes widened.  
"Exactly," Mimi said.  

Cheering up, the friends decided to make something special for Lulu. They built a snowman outside her house and left a note: "We miss you, Lulu! See you in spring!"  

When spring arrived, Lulu woke up and stretched. She saw the melted snowman and the note. Smiling, she hopped to the pond, where Mimi and Didi were waiting.  
"Lulu!" they cheered, running to her.  
"I’m so happy to see you!" Lulu said.  
"We missed you so much," said Didi.  

The three friends hugged, laughing. Mimi and Didi learned that even if a friend disappears for a while, it doesn’t mean they’re gone.

Max was a whirlwind of energy, always rushing around, never stopping to appreciate the little things. His mom would make him a delicious breakfast, and he'd just grab it and run off to school, barely saying thank you. His friends would spend hours building an amazing Lego castle, and he'd just barge in and knock it down, not even apologizing.
One day, a strange old woman with twinkling eyes appeared in his room. She presented him with a pair of peculiar glasses, "These," she said, "are 'Gratitude Glasses'. They allow you to see the world through the eyes of those who truly appreciate it."
Curious, Max put them on. Suddenly, the world transformed! His mom's face, usually a bit tired, now radiated joy as she prepared his breakfast. He saw the effort she put into each pancake, the love she poured into every sprinkle. His friends' eyes sparkled with pride as they meticulously placed each Lego brick, their laughter echoing with genuine happiness.
Max felt a strange new emotion – a warmth in his chest. He realized how much happiness he had been missing by not appreciating the kindness and effort of others. He apologized to his friends, helped them rebuild their castle, and even thanked his mom for the delicious breakfast.
From that day on, Max wore his "Gratitude Glasses" every day, not literally, but in his mind. He started to notice the small things – the beautiful sunset, the chirping of birds, the kindness of strangers. He learned to appreciate the efforts of others and to express his gratitude. He realized that true happiness wasn't about getting everything he wanted, but about cherishing the kindness and joy that surrounded him.

One day there was this kid named Xayden. Xayden went to the park one day and wanted to shoot some basketball. There was one issue though, he wasn’t very good at basketball. In fact Xayden wasn’t good at all. Some other guys saw him missing and started laughing at him. They made fun of him and started calling him names. When they left, a kid named Blaise went over to Xayden and asked him if he wanted help to get better at basketball. Xayden was lit up with joy and immediately said yes! Xayden did some drills with Blaise and started making his shots. After working with Blaise almost every shot seemed to go Xaydens way. The next day, the same guys that were making fun of Xayden came back to the park. Xayden wanted to show them how good he was, so he asked them if they wanted to play a game. Xayden was obliterating them , doing behind the back, in between the legs, shooting threes, layups, and making all of them! Xayden and Blaise ended up winning and one of the guys even ran away. The other guy couldn’t except defeat and said “ Well…well… I’m still better than you!”. Xayden became a great basketball player.

Three sisters, Maya, Lila, and Sophie, live in a cozy house at the edge of a forest. Maya and Lila have long, straight black hair, while Sophie, the youngest, has soft, curly brown hair. Though Sophie loves playing with her sisters, she often feels different because of her curly hair. She wishes her hair was like theirs, thinking it would make her fit in better.

Aubree is a 4 year old girl from Oceanside, California. She lives with her mommy, daddy, and maltipoo dog named Paddington. Christmas is Aubree’s favorite time of year and she always eagerly awaits the return of her elves on “Sleigh Day,” her family’s special holiday each year on the day after Thanksgiving. Aubree’s elves are named Chippy, Snowflake, Kitty Minnie Sparkle Heart Minnie, and Stripey Blue Eyes. They return to Aubree’s house from the North Pole on the morning of Sleigh Day, arriving in a giant red and gold sleigh, pulled by a giant toy reindeer Sven (the reindeer from Frozen). Aubree’s elves always bring her some gifts on Sleigh Day, usually some Christmas books, cozy pajamas, and a few Christmas themed toys to play with throughout the season. 

Each night throughout the Christmas season, Aubree’s elves fly back to the North Pole, then return to her home by the morning, always hiding in a different spot. Aubree’s elves are very mischievous and she loves searching for them every morning. Each Sunday throughout the season, her elves leave her a special card or letter along with a fun gift or activity to do with her family, like tickets to see The Nutcracker or to go to Legoland. Aubree’s family loves these special days and calls them “Elf Sundays.”

Aubree’s elves stay at her home longer than other children’s elves because they know she loves Christmas so much! They stay until she goes back to school, and then they fly back to the North Pole until they return on Sleigh Day the following year. When they leave, the elves always give her a special parting gift with a card, to make sure she always has special memories of that Christmas season.

They could see Old Harry Rock in the background., Ezra was digging in the sand when he suddenly said “Daddy there is something really hard in here”. Daddy dug and dug and suddenly they found black volcanic rocks from a million years ago. Ezra collected two pink buckets of volcanic rocks. When they took them home Ezra put them next to his bed. While he slept they started to glow. The next morning they were glowing so brightly. The whole family held hands and rubbed the stones. Suddenly they were taken back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The dinosaurs were friendly. Ezra rode with Mummy on the back of a Brachiosaurus, Leo rode with Daddy on the back of a Triceratoos, and Moo and Pops each rode on Stegosaurus. The played all kinds of games with the dinosaurs. They helped one dinosaur to hatch from an egg. They also helped to feed a baby dinosaur. As it got dark it was time to go home. The all held hands and rubbished the black volcanic rocks again and were transported back in time to day.

Capri shows adults that her cranial helmet makes her a superhero, and this gives her and the adults more confidence.

"Wow, Max! Should we take a trip to Mercury?" Henry exclaimed.

"Absolutely, Henry! Let's go!" Sam replied.

"Henry, did you know that Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun?" Sam asked.

"Yes! It's only about 36 million miles away from the Sun. That's less than half the distance from the Earth to the Sun!" Henry replied.

As the spaceship hovered above Mercury's surface, Sam said, "Henry, it's super hot here during the day. Temperatures can reach up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit!"

"But at night," Henry added, "it gets really cold, as low as -290 degrees Fahrenheit. That's quite a swing! Imagine how difficult it would be to live here."

Henry and Sam decided to wear their special space suits that kept them cool during the scorching day and warm during the freezing night. They stepped onto the planet's rocky ground, feeling a bit like explorers on a new world.

While walking around, they spotted a small, friendly robot. "Hi there! I'm Mercury's Messenger. I was sent to gather information about this planet. Would you like to learn some fun facts?"

"Sure!" Henry and Sam said in unison.

"Mercury doesn't have an atmosphere like Earth," said the Messenger. "That's why its surface is covered in craters. The lack of air also means there's no wind, and the sky is always black, even during the day."

"Wow! That's so different from Earth," Henry said. "How long is a day on Mercury?"

The Messenger replied, "One day on Mercury lasts about 59 Earth days. But it orbits the Sun quickly, taking just 88 Earth days to complete one revolution. So, a year on Mercury is shorter than two Mercury days!"

As they approached Earth, Henry said, "Sam, we learned so much about Mercury today! It's a fascinating place, but definitely not suitable for humans to LIVE."

"You're right, Henry. But it was an incredible adventure, and I'm glad we got to explore it together," Sam replied with a smile.

Miss Patel watched them and smiled. “Your umbrella reminds me of the neurodiversity umbrella,” she said.

“The what?” asked Lila.

“Neurodiversity is a big umbrella term for the different ways people’s brains work,” Miss Patel explained. “Like how Tom prefers quiet, Amira plays with words, Jake’s mind buzzes with ideas, Rosie takes her time, and Max moves in his own way.”

“So we all fit under the same umbrella?” asked Jake.

“Exactly,” Miss Patel said. “Some people are autistic, some have ADHD, some are great at music or maths, and some find reading tricky. The world is better because we all think and feel differently.”

Lila smiled at her colourful umbrella. “That means everyone belongs.”

One day, Kiki's mother invited Kiki and Cici to plant green beans in the field behind their house.“Please, sow some of these sprouts in the pots that are already in our fields!”
Their mother told them to plant the green beans in pots in the field.

They planted beans with certainty, and when they were done, they returned to their homes. The next day, they returned to the field to see how the green beans they had planted yesterday were progressing.

“Hahaha, your green beans don't have any progress to grow!”
Cici laughed when she seeing Kiki’s plants because they don't have roots or leaves.

Kiki was saddened and disappointed to hear this, and even more so when he saw that his green bean plants were not growing at all.

Kiki replanted his green beans with new green beans, fertilized them, and watered them until the soil was moist enough.

After a few days of this activity, Kiki's green beans now grew with long roots, and quite a lot of leaves. His mother was proud when she heard his story when he returned from the field.

Once upon a time, in a small village nestled between two great mountains, there lived a young boy named Timmy. Timmy loved to paint and draw, and his room was filled with all sorts of colorful pictures. One day, while exploring his attic, Timmy stumbled upon an old, mysterious-looking paintbrush hidden away in a dusty trunk.
As soon as he picked up the paintbrush, it began to glow softly. A tiny fairy appeared before him, no bigger than a thumb. She introduced herself as Lily, the guardian of the magical paintbrush.
"This paintbrush," Lily explained, "has the power to bring anything you paint to life. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility."
Timmy was thrilled and couldn't wait to try out his new magical tool. He set up his easel in the garden and began to paint a beautiful butterfly. As he finished the last stroke, the butterfly fluttered off the canvas and into the air. It was so real that it even landed on a nearby flower to sip nectar.
Encouraged by his success, Timmy decided to paint a whole garden full of colorful flowers and buzzing bees. With each stroke of the magical paintbrush, his garden came alive. The flowers bloomed, and the bees buzzed happily around them.
But then, Timmy had an idea. He wanted to paint something truly special—a magnificent dragon to protect the village from any harm. He worked tirelessly, adding scales, wings, and a fiery breath. As he finished the final details, the dragon roared to life and stood proudly before him.
The villagers were amazed and a bit frightened by the sudden appearance of a dragon. But Timmy explained that the dragon was there to protect them. The dragon, whose name was Ember, quickly became a beloved guardian of the village.
