This hole is called a crater,” Grandma explained. Vika listened. Grandma was very good at explaining things! “Did you see a volcano erupt, Grandma?” Vika asked. “Yes,” Grandma said. “When I was little, the volcano near our village erupted.” “What did you do?” Vika asked. “We stayed inside and closed all the windows and doors. Then, our village leader told us to move to a safe place.” Vika imagined Grandma walking to a safe village. She looked at the volcano. It was quiet today, but if it started smoking, she would listen to Grandma!

Page 6 One day, Tilly saw Benny the rabbit struggling to carry a heavy basket of carrots. "Oh, Benny!" she cried. "Let me help!" She helped Benny carry the carrots to his burrow. Page 7 When Tilly returned to her pot, she gasped. A tiny green sprout had peeked out of the soil! "It's growing!" she shouted. She had been so busy helping a friend, she hadn't noticed. Page 8 The sprout grew into a beautiful little plant with glowing flowers that looked like tiny stars. "What did you wish for, Tilly?" Hoot asked. Tilly thought for a moment. Page 9 "I wished for happiness," she said. "And I found it by helping my friends." The glowing flowers shimmered, and a warm feeling filled the air. By September 7, 2024, evacuation orders would be placed for neighborhoods along the foothills, extending into San Bernardino, and for neighborhoods east of Calle Del Rio.
