Today was Pippa’s first pollen hunt, She flew from the hive eager and pumped. She landed first on a daisy, so white It was Fluffy and soft, a lovely sight. She wiggled and wobbled, buzzed up and down, But her legs stayed bare—no pollen was found! She flew to a sunflower, yellow and tall, With petals the brightest and biggest of all. Time to go home—her legs felt so heavy, She flapped her wings fast and lifted off steady. “One, two, three!” Up she rose, Heading back home as the evening glowed. She searched and searched for an empty honeycomb cell, She wiggled and wobbled and scraped so well. Her job was done, the bee bread made, To feed the colony and baby larvae. Now sleep, little Pippa, in the soft moonlight, No more wiggling and wobbling until the sun shines bright!
