In Pennyville, best friends Timmy and Jenny discovered a magical money tree that grew golden coins. The town's financial guru, Mr. Pennywise, shared the secret – save a little each week, and the money tree flourishes. Timmy saved for marbles, and Jenny for candies, placing coins in their special "Money Tree Jars." As their jars filled, the magical tree sprouted golden leaves. One day, they spotted a shiny toy but lacked enough coins. Mr. Pennywise reminded them to be patient. Timmy and Jenny continued saving, and the money tree grew. Eventually, they had enough coins to buy the toy, teaching them the value of patience and wise money management. The story spread in Pennyville, inspiring kids to start their savings journey and nurture their magical money trees. It became a legend, emphasizing the importance of saving for special things and achieving goals. Timmy and Jenny's tale showcased that saving isn't just about having more coins; it's about making dreams come true.

Here in Hawaii, we know that culture is more than just celebration—it’s how we connect with family, friends, and the diverse world around us. For young children growing up in the vibrant community of BYU-Hawaii, Culture Night is a time where these connections shine brightest. But what does it feel like for a child to take that brave step from the audience to the stage? In “Tama’s Big Adventure at Culture Night,” we follow little Tama as he prepares for his first performance in the event that brings his whole community together. Guided by his parents, friends, and the spirit of aloha, Tama learns more than just the dance steps—he learns what it means to help others, work as a team, and celebrate the beauty of diversity. So why should you and your child join Tama on this adventure? Because this story isn’t just about performing on stage; it’s about the lessons of unity, kindness, and family that come from working together. For young readers, this book is a way to experience the joy of different cultures, and for parents, it’s a chance to teach that our differences are what make us stronger. Whether you’re from Hawaii or somewhere far away, the message is universal: we are better when we share, support, and celebrate together. “Tama’s Big Adventure at Culture Night” brings the spirit of Hawaii to life in a way that is fun, heartwarming, and perfect for little ones aged 2 to 4. In a village lived a clever girl named Aditi and her younger brother, Aryan. They saw their grandmother struggling to pull a heavy bucket of water from the deep well near their home. Daadi is pulling a heavy bucket from the well. Her hands grip the rope tightly, and her face shows effort. Aditi and Aryan stand nearby, watching with curiosity and concern. “Daadi, why is it so hard to pull the bucket up?” Aryan asked, worried. “Yes,” Daadi explained. “This effort is due to the force I am applying to the bucket by pulling it upward. A force is a push or pull. Right now, I’m pulling the bucket up, but gravity is pulling it down, which makes it feel so heavy.” “Gravity? What’s that?” Aryan asked, scratching his head. Aryan, there has to be a way to help Daadi!” Aryan nodded. “Let’s ask Chacha! He’s always fixing things at his workshop.” The two rushed to their uncle’s workshop, where tools, ropes, and wooden planks were scattered everywhere. “Chacha, can you help us make something to make Daadi’s work easier?” Aditi asked eagerly. Chacha smiled. Of course! We can make a pulley. It’s a simple machine that makes lifting heavy things much easier. A pulley? What’s that? Aryan asked. Chacha said, “A pulley is a wheel with a groove around it. When you pass a rope through the groove, it changes the direction of force. Instead of pulling straight up, you pull down, and it feels lighter” “Can we make one?” Aditi asked excitedly. “Sure! Let’s get some materials,” Chacha said. They found an old bicycle wheel, a rope, and a wooden frame. First, they attached the wheel to the wooden frame using nails. Then, they threaded the rope through the groove in the wheel and tied one end to an empty bucket. Aditi pulled the rope. the bucket lifted smoothly. “That’s the power of the pulley, It doesn’t make the bucket weigh less, but it helps you use less force to lift it.” The next morning, Daadi tried the pulley and was amazed. “Wah! This is wonderful! It’s so easy now!”
