He looks desperate and asks the bakery assistant who has come out of the store to call an ambulance. While they wait for the ambulance, Max vomits several times. When the ambulance arrives and Max is placed on the stretcher, he briefly loses consciousness and a bleeding wound can be seen on his right temple. His father is completely distraught and cries bitterly. The paramedics calm him down and dress Max's wound, but he wakes up again and starts crying. The father is allowed to take the ambulance to the children's hospital.
