Isang araw, dumating ang balita na isang makapangyarihang datu mula sa ibang pulo ang nagbabalak sakupin ang kanilang lupain. Si Datu Salangkapaw, isang malupit na pinuno, ay nagpadala ng babala: “Sumuko kayo at maging bahagi ng aking kaharian, o ihanda ninyo ang inyong sarili sa digmaan.” Sa halip na matakot, nagtipon si Alianapia ng mga mandirigma ng kanyang bayan. “Hindi natin ibibigay ang ating lupa sa sinuman!” aniya. Sa loob ng ilang linggo, masigasig nilang inihanda ang kanilang mga sandata at itinuro ni Alianapia ang matatalinong estratehiya upang talunin ang kaaway. Dumating ang araw ng labanan. Sa pagkapanalo nila, hindi lamang nailigtas ni Alianapia ang kanyang kaharian—naging simbolo rin siya ng katapangan at pagmamahal sa sariling bayan. Simula noon, naging alamat ang kanyang pangalan, isang kwento ng kabayanihan na ipinapasa-pasa sa bawat henerasyon ng mga Tausug.

Efe found a small, shiny stone on the ground one morning while playing in the garden. When he picked it up, he saw a tiny insect underneath. He later realized it was a bee. "Hey, sweet bee! What are you doing here?" he called out to the bee. "Of course, I'm carrying honey!" the bee replied and flew away instantly. Efe was surprised. When he turned his head, he saw ladybugs drawing patterns on the flowers. He immediately closed his eyes and made a wish. His favorite toy should be his! When he opened his eyes, a grasshopper jumped out from between the blades of grass. It was such an energetic grasshopper that it kept jumping non-stop. Efe started jumping with it. When he got tired, he sat on some stones between two flowers to rest. What did he see? A colorful, wide-winged butterfly was dancing right beside him. The insects in this garden were so much fun! Efe danced along with the butterfly. Efe met many insects in the garden. He became friends with all of them. Now, he had lots of insect friends!

We can keep Dad’s love inside.” Page 7-8 I look up at her. “What’s a memory box?” Mom sits beside me. “It’s a special place where we can keep things that remind us of Dad.” Page 9-10 I think about it and nod. “I like that idea.” Page 11-12 We look in the basement and find a box. I run my hand over the lid. “Let’s decorate it. I want it to look just right.” Page 13-14 I draw a heart, and Mom helps me write “I love Dad.” Now our box is ready. Page 15-16 We look for Dad’s things. I find his football jersey and hold it close. “It smells like him.” Page 17-18 We find football tickets. I smile. “I remember that game—it was so fun!” Page 19-20 I find a shiny rock. Me and Dad found this on the beach. “It’s lucky.” Page 21-22 I put everything inside the box and close the lid. “Now I have a box of love.” Page 23-24 The next morning, I open the box. I take out Dad’s jersey and hold it tight. I feel connected to him. Page 25-26 Then I look at the rock and remember our trip to the beach. I smile. Mom hugs me. “Dad isn’t here, but love never leaves.” I close the box and hold it close. Dad will always be with me.
